Troy E. Boring, age 54, of Adrian, MI, passed away, January 8, 2017, at Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home surrounded by his family. He was born March 30, 1962, in Adrian, MI, the son of Chris & Joyce (Ward) Boring. Troy graduated in 1980 from Adrian High School. He then started a career following in his father’s footsteps in Harness Horse Racing. He was one of Michigan's leading drivers in the 1980s and '90s, Boring drove 2,766 winners in his career. His victory total included several Michigan Sires Stakes races. Troy is survived by his children, Emily Boring, Christopher Boring and Daniel Bukowski, three grandchildren, Evelyn, Christopher and Connor, his parents, Chris & Joyce Boring, one brother, Michael Boring, four sisters, Teresa Howell, Melissa (Steve) Lintz, Amanda (Craig) Bates and Angela (Mark) Loncki and nine nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his grandparents, Andy & Ilah Ward and Leon & Sadie Boring, uncle, Otis Boring and aunt, Mary Lou Burk. Visitation will be on Thursday, January 12, 2017, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Friday from 10:00 AM to 12:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Memorial Services will be held 12:00 PM Friday, January 13, 2017, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Rev. Richard Webb officiating.
