G. Audrey Woods

G. Audrey Woods, age 90, of Onsted, MI, passed away, December 5, 2016.  Born in Cambridge Twp., on October 5, 1926, to Frank & LaVerne (Thatcher) Brown and lived in the area all her life.  On September 8, 1945, she married Willard Woods, who preceded her in death in 1988.   Audrey worked in many local businesses, starting in A&P and had been employed by Avon for over 30 years.  She was a charter member of Tops 1379, Jolly 18 Club, Onsted Historical Society, Michigan Old Schools Association and was a fundraiser for the restoration of the Old Wooden Stone School.  She was the author of Cambridge Heritage.  She was preceded in death by sisters, Elaine Thompson, Janet Miller and brother Keith Brown.  She is survived by her son, Larry Woods of Onsted, grandsons, Jason & Jarrod Woods of Onsted, granddaughter, Jessica (Mike) Dixon of Manitou Beach, great granddaughters, Ashley & Alexis Dixon, sister, Carol Porterfield of Tipton and her nieces, nephews and cousins.  Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, December 9, 2016, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Rev. Franklin Gunn officiating.  Burial will follow in Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted, MI.
