Eileen Mary Thornton

Eileen Mary Thornton, April 20, 2017, age 89, of Novi.  Eileen died peacefully after a very brief illness, surrounded by her family at Providence Park Hospital in Novi, MI.  Loving wife of the late Roger, mother of Tom (Mary), Gregory (Lisa), Douglas (Diana), Molly Gibson (Robert) and Michael (Emma). Grandmother of Lisa, Cody, David, Brett, Adam, Robert, Kathy, McKinley, Graham, Rebecca and Alexis.  She was the great grandmother of 9.  Favorite aunt of many nieces and nephews.  Eileen was the pillar of the Thornton Family. Her strength and unconditional love held our family together through life’s ups and downs. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, devout Catholic, Eucharistic minister, fashion diva, tournament champion golfer, real estate pro, lover of all things Irish and Jesuit, Tiger’s fan, pro golf fan, faithful letter writer, maker of the best BBQ leg of lamb and sloppy Joes. She was always thoughtful and always selfless.  Last surviving of the legendary Zimmermann sisters of Buffalo, NY.  The Family would like to thank the wonderful staff at Wellbridge of Novi, her home for the last 8 months, with a special thank you to Michelle Hoffman, our mother’s guardian angel. A memorial will be held at a later date.
