William F. Atkinson, age 83, of Britton, MI, peacefully passed away, August 20, 2022, surrounded by his loving wife and family. He was born September 14, 1938, in Ironton, OH, the son of Dillard & Edna (Ackerson) Atkinson. On October 1, 1959, he married Elvie Cole, she survives. Bill worked at the Tecumseh Products Company for 44 years, before retiring in 2005. He was always interested in history, reading, comic books, coin & stamp collecting, fixing cars, fishing and camping. He was always the handyman around the house. Bill always had a smile on his face and was a kind and friendly man. He also enjoyed watching football and baseball on TV. In addition to his wife, Elvie Atkinson, he is survived by three daughters, Gloria (Ruben) Lozano of Adrian, Alvia (Mike) Atkinson Wotring of Adrian and Kathy (Richard) Denniss of Tecumseh; 10 grandchildren; 23 great grandchildren; two sister in law, Betty Atkinson and Phyllis Mullins both of Kentucky; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, William "Billy" Atkinson; one daughter, Lora Atkinson; one granddaughter, Cheyanne Denniss; four brothers, Howard Atkinson, Ralph Atkinson, Raymond Atkinson and Dillard Atkinson Bill's family would like to thank the staff at Lynwood Manor and Hospice of Lenawee. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Friday, August 26, 2022, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Rev. Richard Holt officiating. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, MI. Viewing & Visitation will also be on Friday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. A Celebration of Life dinner will follow the burial at NewSong Community Church, 5211 S. Occidental Hwy, Tecumseh, MI 49286.
