Timothy James Leary

TIMOTHY JAMES LEARY, age 71, of Adrian, passed away on Monday, February 12, 2018 at his home. He was born May 10, 1946 to Harold and Elizabeth (Dubou) Leary. At age 19, Tim was drafted into the Army during the Vietnam War, serving from 1970-1972. Upon returning to Petersburg, Michigan, Tim was employed in the family business, Leary Auto Parts until 1984. He then moved to the Upper Peninsula of Michigan and resided there for over 30 years. During his life in the U.P. he attended Rhema Bible Training College, graduating in May 1991 and then was ordained as a minister in August 1999. Tim owned and operated Amazing Grace Ministries which included ministry in a church and bookstore. Besides his love of God and his ministry, he loved making pizza, and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He will be missed by his children Kimberley (Walter David) Leary-Smith of Saline, MI, Timothy (Michele) Leary, Jr.of Adrian, MI, LaDawna Ross of Carleton, MI, Shannon Leary of Garden City, MI, and Joseph Leary of Ypsilanti, MI; 13 grandchildren; 19 great-grandchildren; and his sister, Janet Dusseau of Tecumseh, MI. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Vincent Ross; and his brothers Keith, Steven and Ralph.  At Tim’s request cremation has taken place. Visitation with the family will be held on Saturday, February 17, 2018 from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. Memorial contributions may be made to the family.
