Thomas Malcolm Pechaitis, 74, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away at home on March 19, 2022, with his beloved family at his side. Prior residences include Brownhelm, Avon Lake and Avon, Ohio, and Fredericksburg, Virginia. Tom is survived by the love of his life, Cindy, son Nate (Elizabeth), step-daughter Jennifer Fiorello, 3 grandchildren, Tommy and Frankie Pechaitis, Gianna Fiorello, identical twin Ted (Laura), many nieces and nephews, and his beloved dog, Gibbs. He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Doris (French) Pechaitis, and brothers John (Judy), Paul (Fay), and James (Diana). Tom grew up on the family farm in Brownhelm, Ohio and enjoyed a special bond with his brothers. Tom was a standout high school football player for the Firelands Falcons. He and his twin brother Ted received full football scholarships to play football for Bo Schembechler at Miami University in Oxford, Ohio. They roomed together, had the same majors, and would sometimes take classes for each other! Tom loved sports - football, baseball, basketball, and even field hockey! He attended Nate's football and basketball games, Jennifer's field hockey and basketball games, and his grandsons' football and basketball games. He went to Cleveland Indians (to him, they will always be the Indians) and Cleveland Browns games. Although they lived miles apart, he and Ted would frequently watch the same games on TV while talking to each other on the phone, analyzing plays and players, often making the same comments! Tom was a whiz with numbers and before you could use a calculator, he would have the answer! He worked for Union Carbide, later known as Linde Gas (DOW) in Cleveland, and later enjoyed a long and successful career as a Sales Consultant for Kopf Builders and Shore West Construction, helping many families build their dream home. He won several awards from the Cleveland Home Builders Association, and he and Cindy designed their dream home in Michigan. He had many friends in the Cleveland area who would describe him as a gentleman, kind, generous, quiet, thoughtful, sweet, lovable, fun, empathetic, sage, awesome ... and he will be dearly missed by all. The family would like to thank his Promedica Hospice team, Jenny, Nicole, Kristie, and Marsha, and Department of Aging caregivers Patricia and Sara for their loving care and support, and the many volunteers at Meals in Wheels. In lieu of flowers, the family requests Memorial Donations to: Lenawee Dept. on Aging 1040 S. Winter St. Suite 3003 Adrian, MI 49221. A Memorial Visitation will be held on Tuesday, March 22, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 7:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
