Tammy Jo Colburn

Tammy Jo Colburn, age 65, of Adrian, MI, passed away, May 9, 2026, at home surrounded by her family.  She was born December 12, 1960, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Dan Smith & Janet Foster.  On October 20, 1978, she married Marlin Colburn in Adrian, MI, he survives.  She was a graduate of Madison High School, Class of 1979.  Tammy worked at Merillat Industries in Adrian up until when they closed.  Tammy devoted her life to loving and caring for others, always putting the needs of her children and grandchildren before her own. Her faith in God carried her through life’s hardships and shaped the kindness and compassion she showed to everyone around her. She had a tender heart for animals, especially stray cats, never turning one away if she could help it. She also found joy in life’s simple moments — spending time thrift shopping, searching for little treasures that reminded her of the beauty in everyday life.  Above all, Tammy will be remembered for her selfless love, warm heart, and at times, her firecracker spirit that brought laughter, strength, and light to those fortunate enough to know her. Even through difficult times, she continued to give comfort, love, and support to the people she cherished most.  In addition to her husband Marlin, she is survived by her mother, Janet Foster; her children, Jennifer Colburn and Matthew (Kim) Colburn; her grandchildren; Joshua (Alieena) Crutcher, Jacob (Jasmine) Crutcher, Olivia (Aydden) Crutcher, and Matthew (Connie) Colburn; great grandchildren, Madelyn, Evelyn and Andrew;  her devoted sister, Deb Colburn; and her two brothers, Bill (Stephanie) Pope and Mike (Beatrice) Prock.  Tammy also held a special place in her heart for several nieces and nephews who remained close to her throughout her life, especially Christina Perez, whom she loved like a daughter.  She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Gene Pope; her father, Dan Smith; her brother, Daniel Smith; two nephews, Kenneth Colburn and Jeremy Colburn; and her brother-in-law, Glenn Colburn.  Funeral Services will be held 12:30 PM Friday, May 15, 2026 at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Rev. William VanValkenburg officiating.  Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.  Viewing & Visitation will also be on Friday from 10:30 AM until the time of service at the Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, MI.
