Sherry Ryman Obituary

Sherry Lynn (Platt) Ryman   November 19, 1956 to March 31, 2022

Sherry died peacefully at her home surrounded by loved ones after a courageous battle with a terminal illness called Progressive Supranuclear Palsey (PSP).  Sherry was born in Hudson Michigan to Russell and Elva (Lester) Platt, she graduated from Waldron High School, and was a life-long resident of Waldron, Michigan. Sherry was loved by so many and was known for her smile, a twinkle in her eye, and an infectious laugh. She could wow a crowd or friends with her beautiful voice and piano playing. She was a loving mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend, and caretaker - from years of childcare to loved ones with illness. Sherry could be a lil’ quiet, a lil’ sassy, and a lil’ stubborn; but she was full of heart and loved her family and friends beyond measure.  Sherry was a lover of simple things from puttering around the house and yard to purchasing bargains, or having yard sales. She enjoyed buying “junk” and making something new and special out of it. She was a collector of many things from refrigerator magnets to Native American items and cows to black bears. She knew how to embarrass her kids, yet her house was always the house to hang out at.  She was proud of her children and loved getting to spend time with her grandchildren and grand-animals. Sherry was part of a family that played pranks and knew how to have a good time no matter where they were or what the situation. There is not a gathering of family and friends where stories, belly laughs, and tears were not abundant from childhood to adulthood.  Sherry is survived by her two children, Christopher “Ralphy” (Amy) Ryman and April Sue Platt; two grandchildren, Alannah Pressley Ryman and Jagger Allen Ryman; three sisters Mildred (Fred) McCance, Kathy (Tammie) Anderson and Janice Elaine Terrazas; two brothers Ed (Bev) Robison and Russ (Deb) Platt, five nieces: Barbie, Teresa, Tammy, Ashley and Brenda Kay Platt; five nephews, Dwayne, Tracy, Mike, Eddie Bryan, and Charles James (CJ); and former husband, Ron Ryman.  Sherry was preceded in death by her parents, significant others Gary Dubois and Gary Elmore; brothers, Jim Robison, Ricky Platt, niece, Tina McCance-Lawler; and nephew, Dennis Robison.  A Graveside Service for family & friends will take place 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 5, 2022 at the Waldron Cemetery. A luncheon will follow at the Waldron VFW Hall.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be directed to Waldron Community Days, via Premier Bank or the family. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
