Shannon Ackley Obituary

Shannon Diane Ackley, age 37 of Clinton passed away at the University of Michigan Hospital August 18 after an extended illness with family by her side. Born February 25, 1983 Shannon is survived by her sons Travis John Jr. (TJ) and Keian Ackley, her proud parents Dayna Meyers and Roger Meyers (Robin), her siblings Lauren (Josh), Kristi, and Eric (Jessica), her beloved cousins Tara Ott, Corey Hattaway, and Chelsea (Nick) Wroblewski and their children Paisley, Stella, and Sophia, her grandpa Ken Meyers, aunt Pat and uncle Forrest, aunt Sharon and uncle Steve, and her special aunt Les (Hattaway), nephews Carson, Atlas, Lucas and niece Willow, each whom she loved and cherished like her own. Shannon was preceded in death by her paternal grandmother Diane Meyers, her special step grandmother Pat (Dunny), her grandma and grandpa Wayne, uncle Charlie (Hattaway), and her beloved protector Vader. Shannon was an absolutely beautiful person. If you knew our Shannon you know she had her struggles with addiction the last years of her life, which ultimately cut her life way too short. Those of us who knew and loved her deepest though would tell you that addiction should not define her life because she was so much more than that. Shannon was an intelligent loving daughter and mother, a nurturing soul to her siblings, nephews, nieces, and cousins, but most of all to her two sons TJ and Keian who she loved more than life itself. She was strong willed with a great personality and she was fiercely independent with the heart of a lion. She was a country girl at heart who loved cooking, throwing a great party, a day at the lake, camping and sitting around a campfire, and just enjoying the hell out of a great day. When Shannon was at her best there was no one better or more fun to be around. At the end of her life she had such a will to live and so badly wanted to be there for her TJ and Keekers, but her body just could not sustain the damage addiction had caused it. Our Shannon had very few regrets in life because she refused to dwell on the past of what could have been. She truly just wanted to be the best mother she could possibly be, and really at every moment of her life she gave everything she was able to give. When Shannon made her bucket list it unselfishly had only one thing on it “spend one last time at Kalahari Waterpark with my boys, even if I’m in a wheelchair” She was as beautiful and exceptional the last days of her life as she ever was. She will truly be missed, but forever cherished and never forgotten by all who knew and loved her. Per Shannon’s wishes, cremation has taken place and she will be laid to rest in Riverside Cemetery in Clinton, in a private family ceremony. Shannon would request that memorial contributions be made in her name to the Clinton Community Food Bank at Clinton United Methodist Church, and/or The Tecumseh Service Club, who were there for her in her most trying times.
