Sgt. David Sotelo Obituary

David S. Sotelo, Sgt. E-5, U.S. Marine Corps., entered into rest on June 3, 2020, surrounded by the ones he loved most.  He was one of twelve children, born and raised in Adrian, MI, to Jose & Marta Sotelo.  After enlisting in the U.S. Marine Corps., he honorably served in the Vietnam War. When he returned home, he met and married his best friend and wife of almost 52 years, Mary Lou Sotelo.  David worked as a skilled tradesman for 30 years at the Ford Motor Co., while raising a family of two daughters, Natalie and Tammy, and one son, Matthew, who graciously gave him life for more than a decade by donating his kidney.  For over 40 years, he battled through Kidney complications, Diabetes, and eventually lost his final battle to Lewy Body Dementia.  David was a man who loved his children  and  adored his grandchildren. He was a man of few words but his life spoke to the multitudes of people that loved and were loved by him.

"What the mind can't remember - The heart never forgets."

David will be laid to rest in Great Lakes National Cemetery, Holly, MI, with Military Honors performed by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 and the U.S. Marine Corps Honor Guard.  David's family would like to thank Hospice of Lenawee for their care.  In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or the Adrian VFW Post 1584.
