Sandra Simmons Obituary

Sandra Lou-Al Simmons, 74, beloved Wife, Mama, Grandma, of Allen Park Michigan, passed away December 18th, 2020, at Provincial House of Adrian, under the wonderful care of both Promedica Provincial House of Adrian and Hospice of Lenawee. Sandy was born April 22nd 1946 in Detroit, MI to Edward and Florence (Wilkie) Ernewein. She graduated from Allen Park Highschool, class of 1964 and immediately after, began working as a nurse's aide at Oakwood Hospital,Dearborn in Labor and Delivery. She made many friendships there,including her future mother-in-law, who introduced her to Thomas R. Simmons, whom she would marry in 1978 and spend 42 wonderful years with. Sandy became a foster parent in 1980 and kept many pictures and memories alive of all the children she fostered from 1980 until 1985. She took pride in being a homemaker and mom, sang in the church choir at St.Mathew's Lutheran church, and Angelica Lutheran Church, both in Allen Park, and she was also an avid crafter and dedicated grandma who loved nothing more than spending time with and showing off her grandbabies. Sandy was welcomed home by her parents Ed and Flo Ernewein, her husband Thomas Simmons, her favorite Aunt and Uncle Norman and Irma Wilkie, who she spent many summers with at Strawberry Lake, her best friend of over 20 years Dolly Harl, and her 3 angel babies who she couldn't wait to see again one day. Sandy will live on and be remembered with great love through her daughter Shawn (Ken) Williams of Adrian, MI; Her special daughter Elizabeth Vazquez of The Colony, TX; Her granddaughters who she cherished with all her heart, Lilly Williams, Zoey Williams, Abigail Williams and Annalise Williams of Adrian, MI; And her brother and sister-in-law, who were not just in-laws but dear friends,John and Lorraine Simmons of Clermont, FL. Cremation has taken place. Donations can be made to Hospice of Lenawee, the Alzheimers Association, the American Cancer Society or a church of your choice in lieu of flowers.
