Sam Short, Sr.

Samuel Short, Sr., age 73, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away, February 18, 2023, at home peacefully in his sleep. He was born April 11, 1949, in Tecumseh, MI, the son of James & Gwendolyn (Lentz) Short.  Sam was retired from Martin's Home Center. He had a zest for life, always had a smile and loved to make people laugh. Dad's famous one liner was "I had a girlfriend tell me that once." Sam enjoyed bowling, playing softball, golfing and watching his kids play sports. In his later years he loved spending time with his grandchildren, great grandchildren, his family and friends and drinking his Bud.  He is survived by his children, Samuel Jr. (Monica) Short, Susan (Ray) Jacobs, Jason (Jaime) Short, Joshua Short and Jennifer (Robert) Raitt; eleven grandchildren, Ashley, Sarah, Samantha, Haley, Chrystal, Liam, Lexi, Olivia, RJ, Grace and Nehemiah; twelve great grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.  He was preceded in death by his parents, James & Gwendolyn Short; and five siblings James Short, Hilary "Jack" Short, Hilda Amburgy, Rose Marie Graham and Janet Fosbender.  Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 PM Thursday, February 23, 2022, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St., Tecumseh, MI. Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh, MI.  Following the burial a luncheon will be held at the Tecumseh American Legion. Viewing & Visitation will also be on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the time of service at St. Elizabeth Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Elizabeth Catholic Church or the Tecumseh American Legion.  Arrangements are under the direction of J.
