Sally DeLorey Obituary

If on January 30th, 2021 the stars seemed a little brighter, the world seemed a little colder and a rumble of laughter could be heard from the heavens, it is because one of the most beautiful souls, Sally Ann DeLorey (McMullen), left this human life to enter her eternal life with the Man she adored most. Perfectly fitting, Sally was born on New Year’s Day, 1956 in Garden City, Michigan to Robert and Genevieve, who we know welcomed her with big, loving arms.  She grew up with her three adoring sisters Sue, Jenny, and Mary (Wahl), and wonderful brother Frank.  They made a lifetime of memories, although may have been mischievous at times, those memories will help carry them through.  Sally married the love of her life Clifford DeLorey and they shared a long, bountiful life together.  They are finally reunited again.  They leave on this Earth their children Paul (Amy), Robert, and Kathryn (Chris Baran).  Sally loved her children with all her heart but they were pushed aside, in the best way, the day she became a Grandma.  She was, hands down, the best Grandma to Dylan, Scarlett, Oliver and Violet.  She was forever fond of her many nieces and nephews as well and was often known as Aunt Sassy to them.  If you met Sally once you were her best friend.  She loved every human the moment of meeting them, which explains why she had so many friends that were more like family to her.  Her dear friend, Larry, especially had a special place in her heart (Mom has a pork chop waiting for you).  Sally reminded us that she was never afraid of death, she had a faith as strong as a Saint’s.  She was proud and honored to volunteer at her church and considered her priest a close friend (Thank you Father Mike).  There will be a funeral mass at Holy Family Parish St. Joseph Campus (415 Ormsby St. Adrian, MI 49221) on March 6th at 10:30 AM; a live stream of the Mass will also be available.  Sally never wanted a big funeral service; her wishes were to have a big celebration of her life.  The Festival of Sally will be held August 14, 2021 (More details to follow) PLEASE NO FLOWERS (Per her request. Mom’s exact words “If someone buys me flowers you can invite them to luncheon but they can’t eat.) Sally had a passion for helping children; charities close to her heart included Compassion, Mercy Ship, and St. Jude’s Hospital.  We know it would mean so much to her to have donations made in her honor in lieu of flowers.  Sally’s infectious laugh, addicting personality and unconditional love will be forever missed but, Mom always reminded us that this will not be good-bye or even see you later. She let us know that she will always be with us, no matter where we are.
