Roger Thomas Sherwood

Roger Thomas Sherwood of Tecumseh, MI passed away at home on January 10th, 2021 at the age of 71. He was born February 7th, 1949 to Gerald and Alice (Fears) Sherwood. He was proceeded in death by his parents and his brother, Larry (Skeeter) Sherwood. Roger was a Vietnam veteran, having served for six years (1968-1974) in the Navy, attaining Machinist Mate Class 2 and an Associate degree in engineering from Chicago University. He was a member of the USS Nitro Association at the VA, the NRA, and the National Trapper’s Association. He was an avid trapper, fisherman, hunter, gardener, apiarist, and, as the Toledo Blade reported, he knew more about the outdoors “than anyone since Daniel Boone.”  In 2012, he retired after 35 years from McDonald’s Corp. There, he met the love of his life and partner of 37 years, Katrina. He is survived by his wife, Katrina Sherwood, sons, Jon (Melody) Nichols and Ben Sherwood, daughters, Kate (Don) Watkins and Jenna (Ardie) Allen; grandchildren Gavin and Abby Nichols, Livi Belle and Landon Watkins, and Tristan and Morgan Allen; siblings Tim (Chris) Sherwood and Pat Oderkirk. Roger loved to talk with people and was known for his elaborate, dramatic stories. He was a stranger to no one; if you met him, you knew him. He had a generous heart and was quick to offer help to anyone in need. Roger offered kindness freely and welcomed many to his life as though they were family. He absolutely adored his wife, children, and grandchildren above all else. Gone too soon, he will be missed by many. The family will plan to host a celebration of life later in the year due to Covid-19 restrictions. Donations can be made in his name to the VA in Ann Arbor.
