Robert George Osterhout, age 92, of Britton, passed away June 27, 2021. Robert was born March 1, 1929 in Monroe County, Michigan the son of Harold and Helen (George) Osterhout. On July 19, 1952 he married Elizabeth Mitchell at the Holloway Presbyterian Church. She survives. He was a graduate of Britton High School. After graduation he served his country in the United States Army. In March, 1991 he retired from the Tecumseh Products after 42 years of service. He was a life member of the Britton American Legion Post 155 and a volunteer member of the Ridgeway Fire Department. In addition to his wife, Elizabeth (Betty), he is survived by his children, Julie (Brad) Smith and Jeffery (Laurie) Osterhout; granddaughters, Megan (Chris Fung) Smith, Rachel Smith and Jessica (Jack) Osterhout-Koch; great grandson, Everett J. Koch; sisters, Wilhelmina Newell and Yvonne Cadmus and many nieces and nephews.He was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Myra Bush and brother Wendell Osterhout. Funeral services will be 11:00 A.M. Thursday, July 1, 2021 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh with Pastor Jim Schnenck officiating. Burial will follow in Ridgeway Cemetery, Ridgeway with military honors provided by the Britton American Legion. Visitation will be 5:00 to 7:00 P. M. Wednesday, June 30, 2021 at the funeral home. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or donor's choice.
