Robert Courvoisier, 87 of Ypsilanti passed away at home on Wednesday June 16, 2021. He was born December 17, 1933 in Detroit, MI to John Paul and Marcella Campagne Courvoisier of Switzerland and France respectively. His family moved to Toledo Ohio in 1941. After high school, Bob joined the navy, serving in the submarine service (USS Atule) during the Korean War and later on the initial crew of the first nuclear submarine, the Nautilus. After his service, Bob joined the railroad as a Conductor where he worked for 36 years until retiring in 1996. He was also the United Transportation Union local chairman for many years. From his time in the submarine service, he was stationed at and fell in love with the Florida Keys, where he bought a home. Bob loved his NASCAR and was an avid amateur racer. After retirement he enrolled in driving school and obtained his NASCAR license so he could travel and drive on various race tracks around the United States. He is survived by his loving wife of 57 years, Rebecca Brown, and 5 children, Bill Koch, Donna (Dave) Raymond, Lorraine Koch, Marylou Koch, and Michael (Lori) Courvoisier, 13 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren, many great, great grandchildren, and a brother, John (Sandy) of New Orleans. He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Dale. Cremation has taken place, and no services will be held. A Celebration of Life will be held in August.
