Robert Harvey Counterman passed away on Tuesday January 12, 2021, at Henry Ford Allegiance in Jackson, Michigan. His wife and two daughters were present.He is survived by his wife, Carol Ann (Murdock) Counterman with 58 years of marriage. They had two daughters, Susan (Charles) Wismer and Debra (James) Rodgers . Six grandchildren, and twelve great-grandchildren. A sister, Patricia Schwartz. Several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters. Robert was born July 17, 1938, in Jackson, Michigan. He graduated from Parma High School in 1956, Ferris Institute 1959. After helping raise their two daughters, he received his Bachelors of Applied Science Degree from Siena Heights College in 1986. Robert was an avid hunter, he enjoyed reading especially about the Civil War, worked diligently in his Hosta garden, and over the years Bob owned and restored several classic cars and trucks. Robert retired from Consumers Energy after 30 years of service in the gas line department. He was a member and Deacon of the Cement City Baptist Church. Robert accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and savior at a young age. He showed compassion not only to his family but to everyone he met. He had the ability to empathize and listen intently. Bob’s gentle, loving ability for mentoring others extended to four generations. Colossians 3:12-15 “Put on then, as God’s chosen ones, holy and beloved, compassionate hearts, kindness, humility, meekness and patience, bearing with one another and, if one has a complaint against another, forgiving each other; as the Lord has forgiven you, so you also must forgive. And above all these put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. And let the peach of Christ rule in your hearts, to which indeed you were called in one body.
