Rita D. Barnes

Rita D. Barnes, age 71, of Adrian, MI, passed away, May 15, 2021. She was born September 17, 1949, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Oscar and Clara (Dotson) Cates.  Rita is survived by her children, Penni Jones and Scott (Dawn) Barnes; former husband, Pete Barnes; grandchildren, Cody (Terina) Kendall, Jessica Kendall, Dallas (Alicia) Kendall, Aubri and Malychy Evans, Marissa Barnes, Cameron Stone and Samantha Moyer; twelve great grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Diane) Cates; two sisters, Brenda Welch and Melody (Vernon) Kinzer; and several nieces and nephews.  She was was preceded in death by her parents, Oscar and Clara Cates.  Funeral Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, May 22, 2021, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor David Bolton officiating. Viewing and Visitation will be on Friday, May 21, 2021 from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM and also on Saturday, from 1:00 PM until the time of service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.
