Richard D. Gerhart

Richard D. Gerhart, age 84, of Adrian, MI, passed away, February 19, 2018, at home surrounded by his family. He was born December 5, 1933, in Adrian, MI, the son of Clem & Mary (Sloan) Gerhart. On September 21, 1963, he married Barbara (Martin) Gerhart, she survives.  Dick served his county in the U.S. Army at Fort Lewis in Washington.    He retired from Fisher Body, General Motors in Tecumseh.  In addition to his wife Barbara, he is survived by his children, Paul (Karen) Gerhart and Mary (Gene) Cowell, his grandchildren, Jessica (Patrick) Ayling, Samantha Gerhart, Hannah Gerhart, Brian Cowell, Bradley Cowell and Brandi Cowell, two great grandchildren, Raymond & Paige Ayling, four step grandchildren, eight step great grandchildren and one step great great granddaughter. He was preceded in death by his parents and three brothers, Leroy, Tom & Lyle Gerhart.  Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Thursday, February 22, 2018, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Military Honors will be performed by the Adrian VFW Post 1584 Honor Guard. Visitation will also be on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at the J.
