Obituary
Phyllis Elaine Smith, 72, passed away on May 5, 2023. Phyllis was born on November 28, 1950, to Floyd M. Perry and Golda M. (Gordon) Perry in Adrian, MI. Phyllis graduated from Adrian High School, she went on to beauty school, medical assistant training and found her passion in caring for people in nursing. After graduating from Toledo School of Nursing in 1996, she kickstarted a 16-year career at a number of hospitals, doctors’ offices, and nursing homes in the area. In 1967, Phyllis met Michael Gregory Smith at a friend’s wedding in Adrian, MI. They went on to have two children, Shana LeAnn (Smith) Braun and Michelle Marie (Smith) Armstrong. In 2012, Phyllis retired and spent her time traveling to see friends and family between Michigan, Florida, and California. She enjoyed game nights, storytelling, good food, naps, and vacations. She loved dogs and treated them like beloved family members. However, her grandchildren and great grandchildren were her world. Phyllis was predeceased by her parents, Floyd and Golda Perry and her son-in-law, Larry Braun. She is survived by her husband, 2 children, 7 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren. A celebration of life will be held at 4 Windcrest Ct. in Adrian MI on July 22, 2023, at 3pm-6pm. Donations can be made to your area animal shelter in her name.
