Patricia Brosamer Malmquist Obituary

Patricia Ann Brosamer Malmquist, Dundee MI (January 19, 1955 – January 14, 2021) Patricia Ann Brosamer Malmquist has joined her angels in heaven, crossing over at 3:20 AM on January 14, 2021 at the University of Michigan Hospital due to her long 25 year battle with Ulcerative Colitis and Primary Sclerosing Cholangitis (PSC). Patti was born on January 19, 1955 in Adrian Michigan to Robert Carl and Elizabeth Baker Brosamer.  She was the third of seven children, and spent a charmed childhood growing up in Deerfield, MI, attending St. Alphonsus Catholic grade school, and graduating from Deerfield High School in 1973. She worked as an Administrative Assistant at Siena Heights University, where she met a fellow employee David Carl Malmquist in 1978, and they were married on October 10, 1980.  Thunder and lightning greeted them as they exited the Adrian College Chapel, but the marriage endured for the next 40 years. Patti and David enjoyed the first seven years of their married life in the Ann Arbor / Saline area, where Patti held Administrative positions at Encotec and St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. In 1987, they purchased their historic home in Tecumseh, MI, where they lived for the next 30 years. In June 1990, their only son, Andrew Carl Malmquist, was born, and he was Patti’s shining light of which she threw her total energy and support into him .While living in Tecumseh, she worked as the Administrative Assistant to the St. Elizabeth Catholic Church for many years, taking an early retirement due to her medical issues. In 2017, a decision was made to downsize (unsuccessfully) their home and a brand new one was purchased in Dundee MI.  Patti always said she loved this home the best, and felt very secure in it during the past year while the fight against Covid raged on. Patti is survived by her husband David, son Andrew of Dundee MI, and her siblings Michael Brosamer (Brenda) of Deerfield MI, Marybeth (Rick) Worcheck of Saline MI, David Brosamer of Ft. Worth TX, Kimberly (Earl Jenkins) Brosamer, and Ken (Nancy) Brosamer of Rochester MI. She is also survived by her beloved dogs, Lily and Luther. She is predeceased by her parents, and a brother Robert (Pauline) Brosamer of Brooklyn MI.  She is also survived by numerous nieces and nephews. Patti was active in the PSC Partners Seeking a Cure, an organization that campaigned internationally for a medical solution to her most pressing medical problem.  She developed many friends over the years through the organization’s annual meetings around the country. Patti will be immediately cremated and her cremains will remain with her husband.  Due to Covid restrictions, there will be no funeral service or visitation at this time. A Catholic ceremony with a celebration of life will be held later this summer at St. Alphonsus Catholic Church in Deerfield, MI, where Patti attended church as a child.  More will be announced on this event at a later date. Donations in Patti’s memory can be made to the PSC Partners Seeking a Cure at https://pscpartners.org/get-involved/donate.html or snail mail to PSC Partners Seeking a Cure, 6900 E Belleview Ave, Ste 202, Greenwood Village, Colorado, 80111. Patti was at the most a warrior.  She fought for so many years against her illnesses, enduring multiple surgeries and hospitalizations.  Her kind disposition and charming eyes will be forever missed by all who met and knew her.  She lived a wonderful life, and was grateful to have lived as long as she did. May God rest her soul, and she is surely now flying with her angels in heaven.
