Nina Irene Merillat, age 94 of Morenci, MI, passed away on June 19, 2025, under the care of Hospice of Lenawee Hospice Home. She was born September 17, 1930 to Alonzo and Flossie Slee in Delta, OH. Nina was a graduate of Liberty Center School. In August of 1948, Nina married the love of her life, Kenneth Merillat in Waukegan, IL, and they had three beautiful children, Kenny, Kathy, and Karen. Nina enjoyed cooking and baking for people, crafting, birds and horses, and loved to walk. If you knew Nina, you knew she was never one to sit still. She also loved her ice cream, especially chocolate. Nina will be remembered most for her infectious unique laugh. You could hear her laugh from another room and knew who it was. Nina loved Jesus very much, and contributed to the Kingdom in many ways throughout her life. She loved people and was always willing to tell them of her faith and love for the Lord. Nina is survived by a daughter, Kathy (Aram) of Kentucky; grandsons, Chip Connin (Cassie) of Morenci and Kip Connin (Jana) of Indiana; great grandchildren, Kristos, Kolya, Chase (Caitlyn), Carter (Mackayla), Kaden, Keegan; a great-great grandson Arthur; a grandson in law, Tony McArthy; a special friend and family member, Ruth Knaus; a brother, John Slee; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband Kenneth Merillat; son, Kenny Merillat; daughter in law, Alice (Hood) Merillat, and their two children Kayleen and Kendra; daughter Karen; granddaughter, Karisha McArthy; two brothers and two sisters. Memorial Services will be held 5:00 PM Friday, September 19, 2025, at Jasper Bible Church, 8230 S. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Contributions may be made to Hospice Home of Lenawee or Lenawee County Dept. of Aging. Arrangements entrusted to Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, MI.
