Nancy Ellen (Grant) Hammack

Nancy Ellen Hammack, age 69, of Adrian, Michigan, went home to be with her LORD and SAVIOR on Saturday, February 25, 2023, while surrounded by her loved ones under the care of (home) Hospice. She was born in Hudson, Michigan, on July 21, 1953, the daughter of Franklin and Betty (Schoonover) Grant. On December 15, 1973, she was joined in marriage with Danny C. Hammack,  of whom they've shared over 49 years together.  She also, was the BEST Mom and Grandma that anyone could have ever desired to her 5 children, 12 grandchildren,  and 5 great-grandchildren. In the past and on the leisure side of things, Nancy enjoyed fishing, camping, hitting the local garage sales, flower gardening, and vacationing with family. She has always taken pleasure in "competitively" playing cards with her loved ones and "religiously" watching her weekly television shows up until the very end. Her humor and sharp wit was unmatched like none other, and she had a way of befriending others even under the most difficult of circumstances. Setting the fun stuff aside, she was proudly renowned for her dedicated work ethic. Nancy retired from Lenawee Medical Care Facility with over 19 years of service in the Housekeeping and Laundry Departments, where she was fond of interacting with the residents. Prior employment included clerical work for St. Joseph Mercy Hospital of Ann Arbor, general laborer for Adrian Packaging where she was promoted to administrative work,  and laborer as well for Stubnitz (Stubbies) Manufacturing - where she met the love of her life (and his too), Danny. Later in life, she was very determined to not allow her health conditions slow her down - even when many others would have rightfully done so. Her most prized attribute faithfully throughout her life is that Nancy was most known for her unfailing love and loyalty to her family. She IS loved and cherish beyond measure, and will ALWAYS be in our hearts until we meet again - only then, there will never be another "Goodbye". Nancy is survived by her beloved husband, Danny;  5 adoring children: Tamara Barker (fiancé, Paul Hamlin) of Coldwater, MI., Amanda (Darrin) Gotts of Morenci, MI., Darin Hammack (fiancé, Malisa Greisinger) of Adrian,  MI., Derek (Jessica) Hammack of Adrian,  MI., and Douglas (Randi) Hammack of Blissfield, MI.;  the joys of her life, 12 grandchildren: Kayla (Rusty) Thompson,  Kelsey Barker (fiancé, Alex Gottschalk), Jacob and Jude Gotts, Chloe, Hailey, and Mya Greisinger, Kaitlyn and McKenzie Hammack, Danica Mutchler, Delilah and Dylan Glisson;  her heartstrings, 5 great-grandchildren: Ariel McKenna, Jacie Rose, Carter Daniel,  Madyson Marie, and Evelyn Grace;  loving in-laws: Girture Coon (mother in-law) of Adrian, MI., (brother and sister in-laws): Ray Hammack and Karyn Perdue of Richland,  OR., Jimmie Rose (Athur) Moore of Bankston, AL., Kathy (Ray) Casey of Clinton,  MI., Karen (Manuel) Vallejo of Palmyra, MI.; numerous nieces and nephews, and last, but not least, her protective and loyal companion of nearly 11 yrs., Ava (family guardian). She was preceded in death by her cherished parents, Franklin and Betty Grant;  siblings: treasured sister and best friend, Phyllis Miller, and fun-loving brother, Keith Grant;  father in-laws: Cleo Hammack and Donald Coon;  brother in-laws: Howard Miller and John Nieto;  sister in-law: Carolyn Hammack. Memorial Services will be held 6:00 PM Friday, March 3, 2023, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Visitation will also be on Friday from 5:00 PM until the time of service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.
