Minnie " Lou" Brown, age 66, of Adrian, MI, passed away, November 29, 2019 at St. Joseph Mercy Hospital. She was born January 9, 1953, in Elaine, Arkansas, the daughter of R.T. and Jessie (Langford) Brown. Lou is survived by her two sons, Anthony Brown and Andrew Brown; four grandchildren, Alleysia, Jazmond, Christopher and Caleb; one great grandson, Chance; two sisters, Patricia (Willie) Johnson and Sandra Brown; one niece, Jessica Johnson and one nephew, William Johnson; Sister-Cousin, Dorothy Norman; Goddaughter, Krishna Williams and a host of loving relatives and special friends. She was preceded in death by her parents, R.T. & Jessie (Langford) Brown, grandmothers, Viola Evans and Louise Franklin; two special aunts, Hattie Mae Ragland and Classie Mae Smith. Lou was an active member of Lenawee NAACP and served as treasurer for many years. In addition, Lou enthusiastically participated in the East Side Coalition for many years. Her passion for community service resulted in being selected to receive the Lenawee County Martin Luther King Community Service Award in 2000. Additionally, in 2007, Lou was honored to receive the Presidential Citation Award from the Lenawee County NAACP Branch #3162. Minnie “Lou” Brown was a member of the Class of 1971 at Adrian High School. She is also a member of Bethel African Methodist Episcopal (A.M.E.) Church and presided over the church’s Children Ministry. Lou retired from Wacker Chemical Corporation in 2008. Minnie “Lou” Brown was known for her kind and generous nature and was loved by many. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Saturday, December 7, 2019, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI with Pastor Lynn Jackson officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian, MI. Visitation will be on Friday December 6, 2019, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. www.PurseFuneralHome.com
