Mary Lou Schoonover, age 77, of Adrian, MI, passed away peacefully, March 6, 2022, at home surrounded by her family. She was born March 30, 1944, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Clifford Sr. & Mildred (Holloway) Richards. On March 24, 1972, she married Moody Schoonover in Angola, IN, he survives. Mary was a graduate of Tecumseh High School, Class of 1963. She dedicated her life to serving her children and grandchildren unconditionally. Mary was the rock of her family and everyone that knew her always felt loved and welcomed. She lit up the room with her smile and laughter. In addition to her husband, Moody Schoonover, Mary is survived by her children, Mildred (David) Groves, Scott (Raquel) Schoonover, Stacy (Shandra) Schoonover, Jeffrey Schoonover, Jason (Jodi) Schoonover and Johnathan Schoonover; 17 grandchildren, Vanessa (Brandon) Flores, Brittany (Chris) Flores, Jessica Flores, Danielle (James) Miller, Brandon Schoonover, Nathaniel Schoonover, Nicholas Schoonover, Zacarias Schoonover, Ava Schoonover, Ian (Rebekah) McGuire, Julianne Schoonover, Jocelyn Schoonover, Jacqueline Schoonover, Josiah Schoonover, Jenevieve Schoonover, Johannah Schoonover and Joseph Schoonover; 9 great grandchildren, Rhianna, Aaron, Alisia, Cameron, Alex, Jacob Scott, Emberly Lou, Oliver and Baby McGuire; her siblings, Shirley (Leighton) Sheffield, William L. Richards and Thomas E. Richards; and serveral nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Clifford Sr. & Mildred Richards; two sisters, Betty Mae Richards and Charlotte Vallance; and one brother Clifford B. Richards, Jr. Funeral Services will be held 11:00 AM Friday, March 11, 2022, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor James Eckart officiating. Burial will follow in Oak Grove Cemetery, Morenci, MI. Viewing & Visitation will be on Thursday, March 10, 2022, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. A luncheon will follow at the First Church of the Nazarene in Adrian, MI. Memorial Contributions may be made to Hospice of Lenawee or the COPD Foundation.
