Marta R. Anaya

Marta R. Anaya, age 89, of Britton, MI, passed away January 28, 2021, at Promedica Monroe Hospital. She was born January 19, 1932, in Laredo, Texas, the daughter of Rodolfo & Guadalupe (Martinez) Torres. She married Roberto L. Anaya, Sr. on June 19, 1952 and had five children. Roberto Jr. (Brenda) Anaya of Rockford, MI, Sadie (Donald Jr.) Burwell of Clinton, MI, Elizabeth Leader- Forrest of Britton, MI, Elsa Anaya of Britton, MI, and Chriselda Peters of Britton, MI; fifteen grandchildren; twenty-four great grandchildren; and one brother, Rodolfo Jr. "Ramiro" Torres. She was preceded in death by her parents; two brothers, one sister; her husband, Roberto Sr.; her grandson, Dominique Burwell, son in law, Phillip Forrest; and her beloved dog, Abby. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.  Marta retired from Herrick Memorial Hospital in 1989 after many years of service. She was a member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church in Tecumseh, MI. Marta was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother.  Funeral Mass will be held 12:00 PM Wednesday, February 3, 2021, at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, 506 N. Union St. Tecumseh, MI, with Fr. Daniel Wheeler presiding. Viewing & Visitation will be on Tuesday, February 2, 2021, from 4:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Marta will also lie in state on Wednesday, from 11:00 AM until the time of the funeral mass at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
