Margarito "Marvin" Garcia

Margarito "Marvin" Garcia, age 99, of Tecumseh, passed away March 16, 2021 at Lenawee Medical Care Facility.  Marvin was born February 23, 1922 in Kempner, Texas, the son of Francisco and Luisa (Salcido) Garcia.  On November 13, 1967 he married Celia Herrera in Marshall, Michigan and she survives.  Marvin served in the United States Army during World War II,  In 1983 he retired from Tecumseh Products after 38 years of service,  Marvin was a long time member of St. Elizabeth Catholic Church and a fan of the Detroit Tigers.  He loved spending time with his family. In addition to his wife, Celia, Marvin is survived by his daughters, Mary (Ken) Gorzkiewcz-Meagher of Dundee, Marta (Ron) Box of Belleville, Marcia Vandercook of Temperance; son, Marvin Jr. (Justine) Garcia of Denver, Colorado, Michael (Carol) Garcia of Tecumseh; step daughter, Cecilia (Joel) Million of Adrian; sister, Maria Hernandez of Bryan, Texas; brother, Roberto Garcia of Bryan, Texas; 13 grandchildren;  12 great grandchildren; 3 great great grandchildren and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents; son, Martin David Garcia; sister, Francisca Garza; brothers, Sabino Romo, Juan Garcia, Jose Garcia, Raymundo Garcia and Guillermo Garcia and the mother of his children, Juanita Gray Hernandez. A Mass of the Christian Burial will be 12:00 P.M. Monday, March 22, 2021 at St. Elizabeth Catholic Church, Tecumseh with Fr. Daniel Wheeler as celebrant.  Burial will follow in Lenawee Hills Memorial Park , Tecumseh where military honors will be performed by the Tecumseh American Legion and VFW. Visitation will be 4:00 to 6:00 P. M. Sunday, March 21, 2021 at the J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, as well as one hour preceding the service at the church.
