Linda Burgess Newsom

Linda Burgess Newsom, age 66, of Grayling, MI, formerly of Swanton, OH, left this world peacefully on May 22, 2022.  She was a caring wife, mother, sister, grandmother and friend.  She was born October 17, 1955, in Adrian, MI, the daughter of Woodrow & Lillian (Tufts) Burgess.  After graduating Adrian High School, she worked at Silbond for 42 years, retiring in 2018.  During this time, she met and married her husband of 48 years, Robert Newsom.  Together they had two children, Jonikka Jones and Amberlee Newsom.  Linda loved spending time with family & friends.  She loved having a house full of people and no one left hungry.  When not cooking for others, she loved going to the casino.  Linda was an amazing woman with an amazing heart and will be surely missed.  She is survived by her husband, Robert Newsom; two daughters, Jonikka Jones and Amberlee Newsom (Virginia); three grandchildren, Devin Jones, Daija Heller and Dezirae Marr; one sister, Tammy Pate (Chris); sister in law, Mary Shankle; three nieces, Jessica Jenner, Brittany Burgess and Stephanie Pate; one nephew, David Burgess; and many great nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, Woodrow & Lillian Burgess; and brother, Michael Burgess.  Viewing & Visitation will be on Saturday, June 4, 2022, from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI.  Funeral Services will follow at 5:00 PM with visitation until 8:00 PM at J.
