Leona Grace Sloan

Leona Grace Sloan, age 98, of Adrian, MI, passed away, September 5, 2021 She was born July 26, 1923, in Seneca Twp., MI, the daughter of Lester Waltz & Bessie (Hall) Cox.  Leona was a longtime member of The Salvation Army and also volunteered at the Senior Center. She loved to travel, go camping, play bingo and marching in every local parade. Leona loved her family and friends and brought joy and laughter to all around her.  She is survived by three daughters, Patty Ann Sloan, Connie Sue (Ricky) Mohr and Ramona Jean Sloan; many grandchildren, great grandchildren and great-great grandchildren; five sisters; Virginia (Mike) Walker, Linda (Leroy) Proffitt, Annabelle (Don) Adkins, Charolett (Butch) Britton, and Vallirie (Wesly) Blaker, two brothers; Jim Waltz and Jerry (Yolanda) Waltz of Weston, and several nieces and nephews.  She was preceded in death by her parents, two sons, Larry Sloan and Ronald J. Sloan Sr., two brothers; Ivan Waltz and Lester Leroy Waltz; five sisters, Ethel Waltz, May Waltz, Agnes Gehring, Annabelle Hendershott and Virginia Patrick; step-mother, Wilma Waltz; former husband, Earl Sloan and the love of her life, Ernest Engle.  Viewing & Visitation will be on Friday, September 10, 2021, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, from 12:00 PM to 4:00 PM. Funeral Services will follow at 4:00 PM with Capt. Jacob & Capt. Melinda Tripp officiating.
