L. Dean Lange

L. Dean Lange, age 85, loving husband and father, passed away on Wednesday, December 23, 2020, in Adrian, Michigan. He was greeted in heaven by his wife, Ruth. He is survived by his five children, their spouses and eleven grandchildren. Dean was born on September 23, 1935 in Peoria, Illinois to Corinth and Alice Lange. He received his teaching degree from Huntington University in Indiana in 1956 and Masters in School Guidance in 1964 from Siena Heights University. Dean had a fulfilling career teaching mathematics at Drager Jr High and Springbrook Middle School, and finished his teaching career at Jackson Community College. He often ran into former students and was amazed at their remembering him so many years later. Dean and his college sweetheart, Ruth, were married on May 26, 1956 and, over the course of their nearly 62-year marriage, lived in three states and welcomed five children and eleven grandchildren. Their family and friends were the joy of Dean and Ruth’s life, and they always cheered them on. Dean took great joy in his pets and would often cook them up special meals.  Dean enjoyed staying current on local events, faithfully reading The Telegram daily. Dean had a tender heart, with God and family at the center. His love of others was seen through his interactions behind the scenes in churches and helping those in need in the community. He often opened his family home to those who needed a safe, welcoming environment. He would quietly show Christ’s love by gifting Bibles or by providing financial support to others. Dean is survived by his children, Sarah, Joy, Jim, Sheldon and Mary, and their spouses and children.  A memorial service will be held on Sat, Jan 16, at 11:00 a.m at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. There will be a time of visitation from 10:00 a.m. until the service at 11:00.  The service will be live-streamed for those unable to attend in person. (WATCH LIVE LINK)
