Kim Childs Obituary

Kim Marie Childs
Beloved Mother, Nature Lover, and Free Spirit
January 27, 1957 – April 14, 2025

Kim Marie Childs (Herblet), age 68,  passed away peacefully on April 14, 2025, after a courageous battle with breast cancer. She was surrounded by love, with her son and daughter-in-law by her side, along with her cherished dog, Pumpkin. Teri Herblet Baker stood by her side with grace and love, offering comfort and care through her final journey. She was born on January 27, 1957 in St. Johns, MI the daughter of Glen and Theda (Munroe) Herblet.  Kim was a woman of vibrant spirit. She found joy in the simple pleasures of life, camping under the stars, crafting with her hands, and exploring the natural beauty of Michigan. After retiring she traveled Northern Michigan in her RV. One of her favorite retreats was Wabasis Campground, and she held a special place in her heart for Petoskey, MI, where she loved swimming and leaping off the pier into the cool waters.  Her adventurous soul was evident in her love for snowmobiles, motorcycles, and later in life, her trusty electric scooter. Whether riding through snowy trails or cruising through town, Kim embraced life with enthusiasm and a smile.  Above all, Kim adored dogs. Her bond with Pumpkin was deep and unwavering, and it brought her comfort and companionship throughout her final days.  Kim is survived by her loving children: Kyle Graham, Travis Childs, and Emily Kenny. Her brothers Jim Herblet and Pat Herblet. Her legacy lives on in the memories they hold and the values she instilled of unconditional love.  She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will forever echo in the rustling leaves, the hum of a bee on a sunflower, and the laughter around a campfire.  Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
