Kenneth Hooten Obituary

Kenneth Ralph “Kenny” Hooten, 76, of Onsted, Michigan, passed away on May 6, 2026, in Detroit. Born July 8, 1949, in Tecumseh, he was the son of Kenneth Ray and Grace Lillian (Keller) Hooten. A Tecumseh High School graduate, Kenny built a lifelong career as a skilled craftsman and builder. He worked for decades in residential and commercial construction, known for his intuitive problem‑solving and the ability to make things both functional and beautiful.  Kenny’s talent extended far beyond the job site. He understood mechanics and the quiet signals of the natural world. He found peace in the woods and on back roads, and he was a storyteller whose humor and warmth left lasting impressions. He was a proud member of the American Legion Post 315, Brooklyn; SAL Post 550, Onsted; and Irish Hills Eagles 3689.   He is survived by his wife, Cheryl Cusin; his children, Jennifer Adams and Jared (Amber) Hooten; his sisters, Brenda Williams and Nancy (Doug) Perry; and his grandchildren, Roxanne Adams, Angela Hooten, Matthew Hooten, Bianca Kleinschmit, and Jackson Hooten. He was preceded in death by his parents.  Kenny leaves behind a legacy built in the structures he crafted, the people he helped, and the love and laughter he shared. He met life’s challenges with quiet courage, giving those around him years and moments to be forever grateful for. May he rest in peace.  Per his wishes, he has been cremated. A “Kenny Wake” will be held sometime in July.  Arrangements with Purse Funeral Home.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
