Kathryn Jane Mead was born on January 9, 1950 in Tecumseh Michigan. She passed away on November 2, at the age of 72. Kathy grew up on Brown Street in Tecumseh, one of the “Mead Girls,” and was the beloved daughter of Aden and Margaret Mead. She graduated from Tecumseh High School, and Michigan State University. After spending many years in Arizona and California, working in the banking industry, she returned to Lenawee County in 1985, where she resided until her death. Kathy loved nature in all its forms, especially birds and cats. An avid reader, and always up on the national news, Kathy enjoyed a good political discussion. Her greatest wish would be that we all vote on November 8th. She was a part of a large, happy family, the "Dozens of Cousins,” who have spent their summers for over sixty years at Camp Presque Isle in Northern Michigan. That's where Kathy was happiest. She is survived by her brother Roger Mead (Bonnie) of Midland, Michigan, and sisters Laura Desmet (Dan) of Adrian, Michigan, Mary Ann Catros (Tony) of Tipton, Michigan, and Nancy Ryan (Tim), of Portsmouth, Rhode Island, as well as many nieces, nephews, and grand nieces and nephews to whom she was their "Auntie". All will miss her famous birthday wishes. Kathy’s funeral and burial will be private. Donations may be made in Kathy's name to Hospice of Lenawee.
