Joseph Allen (Joe) Cassell, 67, of Adrian, Michigan, passed away on September 24, 2024, from complications of Lung Cancer, in the home of his loving daughter, Mary Cassell Exel in Adrian. Joe was born in Adrian Michigan to Richard and Wanda (née Hill) Cassell on March 13, 1957, the fifth of six children. He went to high school at Adrian, Class of 1975. He attended Siena Heights College and studied Criminal Justice and Psychology. He worked a variety of occupations throughout his life including welding, deep well drilling, and long-haul trucking. He was an avid golfer and sports fan. He grew up in and was a member of the First Christian Church of Adrian and had a deep belief in God. He married Judy Jardine in 1975, they later divorced. He later married Carol Martin Shaffer, and they divorced. Joe is survived by his long-time love, Jane Ayers of Adrian. His daughter, Mary (Tom) Exel of Adrian, grandchildren, Felicia Arnett and Declan Exel. His stepsons Jesse Shaffer and his daughter Lilith, and Daniel Shaffer and his daughter Dahlia. His sister Susan E. Hirschy of Rolla, Missouri and sister Holly M. Sharpe of Olympia, Washington. A special cousin, Andrew Hill of Adrian. And numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his parents, Richard and Wanda Cassell, a sister, Dora Jeanne Mattis, a brother James R. Cassell, and sister Juanita A. Cassell. Brothers-in-law, Dennis R. Mattis, James P. Sharpe and sister-in-law Dee Cassell. Memorial service will be held later and date to be determined. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Heartland Hospice Care.
