John Anthony Ortiz

John Anthony Ortiz, age 60, of Swanton, OH, passed away, March 18, 2022, at Henry Ford Hospital in Detroit, MI. He was born September 28, 1961, in Adrian, MI, the son of Juan Y. & Maria (Montecinos) Ortiz. On May 31, 2008, he married Sue (Marriott) Ortiz, the love of his life.  John "Pops" was a graduate of Adrian High School, Class of 1980. He was currently employed by Living Space Sunrooms of Maumee, OH. John was a diehard baseball fan, especially the Detroit Tigers win or lose. He had a love of music and was known by many as "Johny O" from his D.J. days. John never met a stranger. "To know him, was to truly love him." He touched the lives of many, his smile and sense of humor will be dearly missed.  In addition to his wife, Sue Ortiz; he is survived by his mother, Maria Ortiz; his children, Angela Ortiz, Justin Bennett and Paige (Avery) Ballard; six grandchildren; one sister, Toni Ortiz; two brothers, Samuel (Terri) Ortiz and Joe (Katie) Ortiz; two nieces; and mother in law, Karen Marriott as well as several brothers in law and sisters in law.  He was preceded in death by his father, Juan Ortiz and father in law, Bob Marriott.  Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, March 24, 2022, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI. Viewing & Visitation will be on Wednesday, March 23, 2022 from 5:00 PM to 7:00 PM and also on Thursday from 11:00 AM until the time of service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI. A Luncheon will follow the service at the Hills of Lenawee. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the American Kidney Foundation.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
