Jerold (Jerry) Coy Hendershot, 82, of Phoenix, Arizona, went home to be with his Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ, peacefully on March 7, 2022. He was born on May 6, 1939, in Monroe, Michigan, to Hollis and Okal Hendershot. He married Donna Mae Sharp on September 21, 1963. In 1971, they welcomed their only daughter, Teri Buchner. He was lovingly known as Papa to his two granddaughters, Shantel and Alyssa. Jerry was proud to have served in the United States Air Force from 1957 to 1960. He served as a Radio Controller and received the Good Conduct award. Jerry achieved his dream to retire early at the age of 56 from American Airlines as a Ticket Agent. He loved to meet friends at Dunkin' Donuts to enjoy good coffee and conversation. He was meticulous about keeping his cars in mint condition. If you rode with him, you knew he was going to park a mile away to avoid any door dings. He gave the best bear hugs. He was always quick to flash a smile and had a witty sense of humor even in his last days. He was content in all things as Philippians 4:12 encourages us. Jerry is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Donna Sharp Hendershot; daughter, Teri (Travis) Buchner; granddaughters, Shantel and Alyssa Buchner; sister, Elaine (Wes) Webb; aunt Kay Menzel and many sisters-in-laws, brothers-in-laws, nieces and nephews whom he loved. He was preceded in death by his loving parents, Hollis and Okal Hendershot, and his sister, Diane (Dean) Hooks. The celebration of life service will be on March 11, 2022, at Purse Funeral Home, Tecumseh, MI. Visitation starts at 11 a.m. and service at 1 p.m.
