Jerald "Jerry" Bates

Jerald “Jerry” Bates age 65 of Parma, Mi passed away Wednesday, April 12, 2023, surrounded by loved ones. Jerry was born March 29, 1958, in Zanesville, Ohio. He grew up in Spring Arbor, Mi where he attended Western schools. At the age of 14 Jerry started working at the Jackson Auto Salvage where he was a dedicated worker for 49 years. He enjoyed building and racing race cars, a hobby he would later share with his son. In his early years you could find him every Saturday night racing at Butler Speedway. He loved spending time with family, talking and laughing about old memories. Jerry had a huge heart and was a friend to everyone. He was the best. He will be missed beyond measure by so many. Preceded in death by his father Cecil, his mother Donna, his brother Richard Bates. He is survived by son Troy “Honora” Bates. Grandson Andrew Bates. Great Grandsons Bryce and Connor Bates. Sister Linda “Ernie” Wilson. Sister Marilyn “Bob” McCready. Brother Randall Bates. A Celebration of Life will be held at a later date this summer. We look forward to seeing everyone and celebrating Jerry. Jerry’s smile will live in the hearts of everyone who had the pleasure of knowing him. His kindness, his passion, and his legacy will live on through Troy, Andrew, Bryce and Connor.
