Jeffrey Stephen Niemiec, age 63, of Tecumseh, MI, passed away November 13, 2021 at Charles and Virginia Hickman ProMedica Hospital. He was born March 15th, 1958 in Detroit, MI and graduated Trenton High School Class of 1976. He played hockey on several regional and state championship teams; skipped High School hockey and played Junior A in Canada. Attended Michigan Technological University for Electrical Engineering and was redshirted his Freshman year on MTU's Hockey Team as a defenseman, unfortunately a motorcycle accident ended his hockey career. Jeff was known by his nickname ‘Nemo’ when playing. Jeff ran his own trucking company hauling iron as truck number 212 using the handle ‘Boiling Point.’ His common routes were mostly between Detroit or Toledo and South Bend Indiana. At one point in his life he was a welder and taught welding to prisoners at Milan Federal Prison to provide them trade skills to better their lives after release. An avid motorcycle biker he loved, owned and rode many bikes from one of the first Harley Davidson belt drive cycles at Sturgis in 1980, and his favorite a 1966 Harley Davidson Electra-Glide. He loved music with some of his favorite artists being Frank Zappa, The Band, and Cream. Jeff could do anything he put his mind to; from being a semi-truck owner operator, welder, and stock market day trader. He loved his family, hockey, Harley Davidson motorcycles, dogs, cigars, and scotch. He always wanted people to have fun. He is survived by his parents Bettie and Stephen Niemiec, his brother Dennis (Debbie) and his two sons Joseph (Amber) and Jacob, and many nieces, nephews, cousins, extended family and friends. Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, November 28, 2021, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI with Mark Vander Sande serving as celebrant.
