Jane Elizabeth (Pettengill) Crawford

Jane Elizabeth Crawford, 68, of Blissfield, Michigan, passed away peacefully on April 6, 2022, after a long, brave and courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by her loving husband and daughters. Jane was born on September 17, 1953, in Grayling, Michigan, to Dale and Mary (Roat) Pettengill.  Jane was the youngest of four children.  After she graduated from Grayling High School in 1971, she went on to study at Michigan State. After graduating in 1975, with a bachelor’s degree in Natural Resources, she began working in retail and then took at position at Grower Services, where she met her husband, Gary Crawford.  Jane and Gary were married on August 1, 1981, and just celebrated 40 years of marriage last summer.  They have two beautiful daughters, Megan and Melissa. In 1992, she started working at Wilbur Ellis, as the “Office Goddess”, kickstarting a 27-year career. Jane retired from Wilbur Ellis in 2019 to enjoy more time doing what she loved most.  She enjoyed spending time vacationing in Mexico with dear friends, perch fishing, attending concerts, singing and dancing.  She loved going on annual shopping trips and living it up at the annual pool party with her beloved sisters, daughters and niece.  Jane had a zest for life and loved meeting people.  If you were a friend of Jane’s, you were a friend for life.  Her high school friends can attest to that.  Jane enjoyed spending time with them up north. Jane was preceded in death by her parents, Dale and Mary Pettengill.  She is survived by her husband, Gary Crawford, Blissfield, Michigan, daughter Megan Crawford, Blissfield, Michigan, daughter Melissa Crawford (Matt Bennett), Grand Haven, Michigan.  In addition to her daughters, she and Gary shared their love and opened their home to Sheena Coakley, Blissfield, Michigan, who is considered part of the family.  Also surviving are Dale (brother) and Janice Pettengill, Lansing, Michigan, Kay Ellen King (sister), Grayling, Michigan, Priscilla Pyle (sister), Kalamazoo, Michigan, and her nieces and nephews and many other extended family members. Jane was a strong, independent, kind woman who love her family and friends fiercely.  She lived life to the fullest and loved to laugh.  She left the world a better place just by being in it.  She will be desperately missed by all those whose lives she touched.  To be loved by Jane, you can consider yourself blessed. Rest in peace sweet, beautiful Jane. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, April 30, 2022, at Blissfield American Legion from 3:00 pm to 8:00 pm in Blissfield Michigan.  Please join Jane’s family to share your favorite memories. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to a charity of choice in Jane’s honor.
