James Duane Stoner, 77, of Clayton, MI departed this earth for heaven, on Wednesday, November 2, 2022, at his home under hospice care, with his wife by his side. Duane was born on July 28, 1945, in Williams County, Ohio to Gerald and Juanita (Spence) Stoner. On June 12, 1965, he married his love, Mary Jane Neff, they shared 57 years together. In 1983, Duane attended night school to earn his high school diploma. He was a loyal employee no matter where he worked, but he loved driving truck the best. Duane’s passion and “mistress” was his antique 1965 Ford Falcon Sprint for 30 years. He loved taking her to car shows and making sure she was pretty. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together when he wasn’t attended the needs of his “mistress”. Duane will be missed dearly by his wife, his daughter Michelle (Bert) Rowley, his grandchildren; Chrystal Evans, Andrew (Lynnette) Evans, Dustin, Channel and Sheyanne Rowley and 15 great-grandchildren, siblings; Laura Winover, Donna (Val) Bailey, Rosemary (Murphy) Moore, Roger (Doreen) Stoner, Lloyd (Sylvia) Stoner, Mike (Kathy) Stoner, Richard (Anne) Murphy, and Mike Murphy. He was preceded in death by his parents, stepmother, Mary E. (Reynolds) Stoner, stepfather, Guy Bircher, sisters, Frances Cherry and Linda Stoner, and his brother, Larry Stoner. A Celebration of Life for family and friends will be held on November 12, 2022, at 11:00 AM at Adrian First Church of the Nazarene, 50 Industrial Dr., Adrian, MI 49221, with Dr. David Fulks Jr. officiating. Visitation and luncheon will follow the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Mary Jane Stoner for funeral expenses.
