James Henry Patton

James Henry Patton, age 85, of Clayton MI,  joined all those at peace Tuesday August 9, 2022.  He was born July 11,1937.  A man of kindness, action, and few words James and future wife Katherine (McGraw) met as teens in Panther Creek, WV. A northward path to Chicago, marriage (9/12/59), and the birth of daughters Kathie and Sheila, marked the beginnings of their family.  A second move to Michigan brought the Patton's to the place they called home.  James’ love of hunting and fishing took him up north as often as possible.  He taught youngsters to be good people, always.  Anyone he loved had a rock, immovable and steadfast.  His impact on so many is his lasting legacy.  James is survived by his wife Katherine, two brothers: Newt and Jack, his children; Kathie Knoblauch (Ken Cole) and  Sheila Thompson (Douglas Ruttkofsky), grandchildren: Heidi (Ricky) Roberts, Jaime (Brandy) Mooney and James Knoblauch; as well as great grandchildren and numerous other family and loved ones.  He was preceded in death by his parents, Charles & Lucy (Blankenship) Patton; one sister, Princess Patton; two  brothers, D.L. Patton and Charlie Patton; and son in law, Mark Knoblauch.  Memorial Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, August 13, 2022, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI.  Visitation will also be on Saturday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.  Memorial Contributions may be made to the donor's choice.  There will be a gathering at the Tecumseh VFW following the service.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
