James MacMillan | April 18, 1948 - March 28, 2026
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of James David MacMillan, who died surrounded by family on March 28th, 2026 at the age of 77, in Taylor, Michigan. Jim was born in Detroit, Michigan on April 18th, 1948 to Donald and Lucille MacMillan. He graduated from Redford Union High School and went into the Army to serve his country from September 1967 until April 1969. While in the Army Jim deployed to Vietnam with the 101st Airborne as an infantryman and through his service he was a decorated soldier and even received the Bronze Star. After returning to Michigan from the war, Jim met Cynthia Kochoian and they married on March 7th 1970 and raised two children, Michelle L. Barbosa and Gregory B. MacMillan. Jim worked a long successful career as a machinist initially for Braun and then through various company name changes over 40+ years. Jim led a successful life as a great caring husband, father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, uncle, and cousin. Jim played several sports growing up and was an active member of his church. Jim loved all aspects of life. He really enjoyed golfing, horse track betting, recreational gambling, bowling, watching sports and spending time with family and friends. Jim had many friends and treasured his time with them and his family. Jim also was passionate for all life and took in animals to make sure they were comfortable and well taken care of. Jim will be deeply missed by everyone who knew him. He is survived by his wife Cyndi, his daughter Michelle, three grandchildren, Megan (Blake) Page, Alexus Barbosa, Armin MacMillan, siblings Kathleen (Earnie) Lipps, Deborah Oso, Timothy Mac Millan, Rebecca (John) Mackert, great-grandchildren Cicillia and Maverick, and several cousins, nephews and nieces. Jim is joining in Heaven his parents, his son Gregory, grandchild Kayla, his sister Tamara, and grandparents Edison and Dorothy Sarber. A celebration of life will be held at a private location.
