Jack D. Garland

Jack  D.  Garland, age 77, of Adrian, MI, passed away, June 21, 2025, at home surrounded by his family.  He was born August 12, 1947, in Morenci, MI, the son of William & Doris (Cooley) Garland.  On November 8, 1969, he married Dorothy Holland, she preceded him in death on July 11, 2016.  Jack worked for the Lenawee County Road Commission for over 30 years, retiring in 2010.  Following retirement, he rekindled his dream of Stock Car Racing with his family.  Jack would build the cars for his family to race them.  He was the handyman of the family, "Jack of all Trades".  What Jack did for fun was work.  In his later years, he and his wife played a huge role in raising their great grandchildren.  Jack is survived by his children, David Machan-Garland, Mark Machan-Garland, William Garland, and Marrie Garland (Jason Jarboe); his grandchildren, Chad (Ashley) Machan-Garland, Autumn Bufford, Adam (Erika) Machan-Garland, Leigha Kalabekov, Tylor Garland, Jacquelynn Garland, Jack Machan-Garland and Austin Garland, ten great grandchildren, Kazy, Giuliana, Aubriella, Bryce, Roman, Anna, Noah, Mila, Rivianna, Anna Lee; one brother, Chuck Garland; and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife, Dorothy Garland, he was preceded in death by his parents, William & Doris Garland; one infant daughter, Jacqueline Garland; daughter in law, Charlene Machan-Garland; one sister, Shirline; and four brothers, Bill, Hubert, Herman and Harold.  Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, June 26, 2025, at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI.  Burial will follow in Lenawee County Memorial Gardens, Tecumseh.  Viewing & Visitation will be on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, MI.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
