Idalou “Maurice” Hartlerode, 95, of Manchester MI passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on March 15, 2020. Maurice was born on June 12, 1924 in Estelline TX to parents Everett and Grace Richerson. Maurice graduated from Estelline High School in 1942. She married Charles “Bud” Hartlerode on May 22, 1944. When Bud finished his military service, they moved to Eau Claire MI where they raised their family together. Maurice worked at Chardon Rubber Co from November 15, 1962 to June 12, 1986 as a Quality/Production Manager and was affectionately nicknamed “The Dragon Lady”. In 2009, she moved to Manchester MI to spend the remainder of her life with her daughter and son-in-law, Cheryl and John Klama. Throughout her life, Maurice enjoyed gardening, bowling, playing cards and hanging out with friends and reading books. She also enjoyed her naps with Bobbie the Cat. Maurice was preceded in death by her parents, Everett and Grace Richerson; her husband Charles “Bud” Hartlerode; Children Charles “Terry” Hartlerode, Kevin Hartlerode and Karisa Hartlerode; Brothers and Sisters Lillie (Jiggs) Walls, Joyce Richerson, Olen Richerson, Velma Richerson, Betty (Matt) Evans and Monty Richerson. She is survived by her children Cheryl (John) Klama of Manchester MI, Karen (Jim) Windsor of Benton Harbor MI, Kyle (Sharon) Hartlerode of Coloma MI, Barb (Roger) Brown of St. Joe MI and Joann (Bob) Bailey of Eau Claire MI. She is also survived by grandchildren Belinda (Todd) Lingle of Louisville KY; Michelle (Don) Robbins of Scottsville KY, Beau (CeCe) Hartlerode of Portage MI, Alicechia Slain of Kalamazoo MI, Jonathan (Shaunna) Hartlerode of Eau Claire MI, Johnny (Jodi) Klama of Adrian MI, Scott Hartman, Joseph (Krystal) Hartlerode of Goshen IN, Justin Snyder of Kalamazoo MI and Cory (Heather) Hartlerode of Eau Claire MI. Maurice also has 22 great grandchildren, 12 great-great grandchildren and 1 great-great-great grandchild as well as numerous nieces and nephews. She is also survived by sister-in-laws Delores “Judy” (Gail) Peapples of Summerville SC, Mary Richerson of Amarillo TX, Lou Richerson of CA and brother Bruce (Patty) Richerson of Summerville SC.
