Howard Elihu Sussex, 77 years old, of Adrian, was born to John & Clara (Pierce) Sussex on June 27, 1945 in Adrian, Michigan. Howard was welcomed into the arms of Jesus, and reunited with his beautiful wife, Betty, on October 10, 2022. During his last days, with his favorite music playing, he was surrounded by Family, Friends and very special Health Care Aides who became Family. Howard married the love of his life, Betty Sue Scott on April 28, 1972, in Clinton Mi. She preceded him in death in 2021. He is survived by a Son; Jason, whom he dedicated his life to raising and caring for, Daughter & Son-In-Law; Carol (Bell) & Damon Gutierrez, Grandchildren; Alyssa Kuhn, Aaron Kingsley, and Ethan Gutierrez, Great Grandchildren; Amirah Buie, Marcos Buie, Trenton McKinney, Aarien Kingsley and KayLea McKinney, Brother-In-Law Doug (Shirley) Scott, Sister-In-Law Patsy(Shawn)Young, and several Nieces & Nephews, as well as very special Care Givers who became Family to him, and the best Neighbors & Friends anyone could ask for. He was also preceded in death by his parents, his Father & Mother In-Law; Joe & Lucille Scott, Brothers; Jim Sussex and John(Candace) Sussex, and several Sisters-In-Law and Brothers-In-Law. Howard previously worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator, and Construction worker, prior to his spinal cord injury. A highlight for him was when he unearthed Mastodon Bones at a job site. In earlier years, he was very active in Rodeos, and loved bonfires and camping. He took great pride in always having a beautiful lawn, and enjoyed working on the landscaping. He had a passion for shooting his guns and teaching others about gun safety and shooting. He also enjoyed sharing stories about the adventures of his younger years. We would like to thank the wonderful Aides from Region 2, Careline Hospice and Department on Aging who cared for him, and were like Family to him; Kalila Tames, Stacy Mora, Zeanna Tiede, Brigitte Sneyd, Ruth (& others). Cremation has taken place at Purse Funeral Home in Adrian, Mi, and a private Celebration of Life for immediate Family is being planned for a later date
