Henry E. Collins

Henry E. Collins Sr., age 88, of Adrian, MI, passed away peacefully, April 14, 2025, at home. He was born June 7, 1936, in Okalona, MS, the son of Rufus & Jessie Mae (Haynes) Collins. On November 28, 1959, he married Leona (Sanders) Collins, she preceded him in death on October 31, 2013.  Henry retired from General Motors in Adrian after over 40 years of service. He was a member of Christ Temple Church in Adrian where he served as a Deacon.  Henry is survived by one daughter, Lydia Collins of Syracuse, NY; four sons, Gerald Sanders of Boston, MA, Rodney Collins and Cedric Collins both of Syracuse, NY, and George Collins of Adrian, MI; eighteen grandchildren; a host of great grandchildren; one brother, Rufus Collins Jr. of Mississippi; and host of cousins, nieces and nephews.  In addition to his wife Leona, he was preceded in death by two sons, Reginald Collins of Lithonia, GA, and Henry E. Collins Jr. of Valdosta, GA; two sisters, Mamie Gladney and Willemae Holman; and three brothers, Robert Lee Collins, John Collins and George Carradine.  Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Thursday, April 24, 2025, at Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI with his son, Rev. Gerald Sanders and Bishop Robert Benard both officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery.
