Everett L. Rodgers, age 68, of Onsted, MI, passed away, January 20, 2021, at Promedica Hickman Hospital. He was born March 15, 1952, in Fort Clayton, Panama Canal Zone, the son of Everett & Grace (Armstrong) Rodgers. On August 2, 1974, he married Dawn Butler at Onsted Baptist Church in Onsted, MI, she survives. Everett was a 40 year member of Gateway Church in Onsted. He was involved in several church ministries which included, Gideons International. He was also a Bible Study Leader at Tipton Community Church and filled in as the church's lay pastor this past fall. Everett worked in the medical field most of his life, working at Lenawee Medical Care Facility and Provincial House. Everett was an EMT / Firefighter and Cambridge Fire Department. He also drove ambulance for Bennett's Ambulance Service and worked for Rawson's Drywall. Following retirement, Everett's favorite pastime was delivering Meals on Wheels. In addition to his wife, Dawn Rodgers, he is survived by his children, Everett Rodgers Jr. and Adelle Rodgers (Pete Shaner); three grandchildren, Shawna, Jonathan and Hailey Shaner; one brother, Wayne Rodgers; one sister, Kathy (John) Crumby, Donald & Virginia Butler his in laws whom he considered 2nd parents and; several nieces, nephews, brothers in law and sisters in law. He was preceded in death by parents, grandparents, Wally & Gladys Armstrong and Everett & Lela Rodgers and one brother, Royce Rodgers. Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Monday, January 25, 2021, at Gateway Community Church, 268 S. Main Street, Onsted, MI, with Pastor Tom McMichael & Pastor Eric Hickman both officiating. Burial will follow in Maple Shade Cemetery, Onsted, MI. Visitation will also be on Monday from 12:00 PM until the time of service at the Gateway Community Church. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Gideons International. Everett's funeral service will be streamed live online.
