Evelyn (Van Duser) Sackett

Evelyn Sackett (formerly of Milan, MI), age 96, passed away peacefully on February 7, 2023 at the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in Okemos. Evelyn was born October 1, 1926 to Forrest and Ruth (Bolton) Van Duser in Dundee, Michigan. She graduated in 1944 from Dundee High School. After working in Detroit, Michigan for a short time, she married Shurley Dean (Red) Sackett on December 14, 1946.They were married 65 years until his death in 2012 and made their home in Milan most of their married life. Evelyn loved to bird watch, country western music and McDonalds hamburgers. She is survived by one daughter, Debra, of Lansing, Michigan and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Shurley Dean and four siblings. At the family’s request, there will be no funeral service. Cremation has taken place, with burial at Milan Marble Park Cemetery. For those who wish to honor Evelyn, contributions may be made to the Ingham County Medical Care Facility in her memory.
