Elvira Salazar

Elvira Salazar, age 72 of Adrian, MI, went to be with The Lord October 5, 2020, at home surrounded by her loving family. She was born June 6, 1948, in Laredo, TX, the daughter of Trinidad & Maria (Reyes) Gonzalez. In 1970, she married Enrique F. Salazar, he preceded her in death on July 15, 2012.  Elvira was in the education industry for many years. She was a longtime member of Miracle Temple Church pastored by John Urbina. Elvira was highly involved with church events and nicknamed "The Cheerleader" for her enthusiasm. She was president of "Las Damas", a women's organization at the church, for several years. Elvira attended & graduated from the Bible Institute of Michigan.  Elvira had a passion to help and care for her students throughout her career in the education industry.  She looked forward to all the holidays just so could wear her holiday costumes and provided them with treats and smiles on their face! Her kindness and giving personality was to everyone, stranger or a friend.  Elvira’s priority was her family, she loved spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren; Traveling, shopping, eating out, cook-outs, walks, home visits and her annual Shipshewana trips! She was a huge supporter of sporting events and extra-curricular activities. There was no doubt she was present; you could hear her cheer! She was always so proud of her children and grand-children’s hard work and efforts. Elvira believed they could excel in anything if it came from the heart. She never ended a conversation or allowed you to leave the house without saying “I Love You”. Elvira will be missed so much but know that she gave them many wonderful and beautiful memories that will be cherished forever. “We love you Mom!”  She has many brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews. She was so much a part of their lives and looked forward to their phone calls, home visits, graduation & birthday parties, weddings, family reunions and holiday gatherings. She loved them ALL dearly!  Elvira has numerous nieces and nephews from Michigan, Ohio, Indiana, Wisconsin, Kentucky, Florida, Illinois and Texas that will miss her dearly.  Elvira enjoyed traveling with her loving and caring husband Enrique along with her children. She was a big supporter at her children's & grandchildren's sporting events & extracurricular activities.  She is survived by her children, Lupe Salazar-Hamden, Rebecca Salazar-Pabolo, Jacob A. Salazar and Moises I. (Josephine) Salazar, her grandchildren, Isabell Salazar, Michael Hamden, Jr., Carlito Hamden, Annabell Salazar, Mercedez Salazar, Alexandrea Salazar, Mya Salazar, Moises Salazar, Jr., and Moriah Salazar, great grandchildren, Clint Bacon Jr., Michael Anthony Hamden, Zaylia Sanchez, Isla Hamden and Zaniah Sanchez; her siblings, Carmen Lerma, Victor Gonzalez, Oscar Gonzalez, Fernando Gonzalez, Trinidad Gonzalez Jr., Richard Gonzalez, Graciela Cervantez, Steven Gonzalez, Maria Gonzalez,and Margaret Gonzalez.  In addition to her husband Enrique, she was preceded in death by her parents, Trinidad & Maria Gonzalez, her son, Enrique F. Salazar Jr.; and three brothers, Mario Gonzalez, Moses Gonzalez and Roberto Gonzalez.  Funeral Services will be held 1:00 PM Saturday, October 10, 2020, at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian, MI, with Pastor Henry Burciaga officiating. Burial will follow in Oakwood Cemetery, Adrian, MI. Visitation will be on Friday, October 9, 2020 from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM & 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at J. Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, Adrian, MI.  www.PurseFuneralHome.com
