Earl Stevens Jr.

Earl Stevens Jr., of Brooklyn Mi, passed away on Thursday September 28, 2023, at his home surrounded by family. He was born to parents, Earl Stevens and Nell Stevens, on January 14, 1940, in Pikeville, Kentucky. He married the love of his life, Bonnie Powers, on May 10th, 1986. He was preceded in death by his wife Bonnie, his son George, three brothers, Dwalin, Larry, Terry, and three sisters, Dorothy, Donna Sue, and Ruth. He is survived by his six sons, Earl Dean Stevens (Beverly) of Jackson MI, David Stevens (Nellie) of Toledo Ill, Jerry Powers of Jackson Mi, Dwalin Stevens (Stephine) of Onsted Mi, Ledford Powers of Jackson Mi, John Stevens (Amy) of Ionia Mi, and his special companion and dog, Ruby. He is also survived by his sister, Loretta Deboard (Jimmy) of Pikeville KY, and daughter in law, Laura Powers of Petersburgh MI. After retiring from Ford Motor company, he started his own business, Earls Free Junk Removal, in order to stay busy and help others. He enjoyed playing cards on the computer and cutting his grass several times a week, as well as watching his westerns. He cherished his wife Bonnie, and was lost without her. He was proud of his family and looked forward to when his sons, daughter in laws, twenty-four grandchildren, and many great grand children, would stop by to visit. There wasn’t a person he met that he didn’t take the opportunity to brag to them about his family.  He will be missed every day, and his memory will live on with anyone who knew him. Cremation has taken place. A celebration of Earl’s life will take place October 7, 2023, at J Gilbert Purse Funeral Home, 2959 N. Adrian Hwy, Adrian Mi 49221. Visitation will start at 12:00pm, with a ceremony at 2:00pm.
